Letter: People have become the tyrants

Hundreds of thousands of people suffer from mental illness, but a statistically insignificant number commit mass murder.

Hundreds of thousands of people are conditioned by violent video games, but a statistically insignificant number commit mass murder.

Hundreds of thousands of parents wish they had more resources and support to address their children's needs, but a statistically insignificant number of needy children commit mass murder.

Hundreds of thousands of firearms are in the hands of civilians, but a statistically insignificant number are involved in mass murder.

However, 100 percent of the mass slaughters of innocent children are made possible by automatic weapons in the hands of civilians. The Second Amendment is a piece of the counterbalance against a tyrannical government, but we now seem to be governed by tyrannical civilians who believe the fun of firing an automatic weapon is more important than the lives of the innocents.

Certainly brave gun owners can provide leadership to end this insanity.
