Rapists stole victim's Christmas presents in mid-December assault, police say

Two men raped a woman while she was incapacitated in her Fairview apartment Dec. 15, then stole her child's presents from under the family's Christmas tree, Anchorage police said.

Police are now looking for help from the public in catching to two alleged rapists.

The woman went to Fantasies, a strip club on Fifth Avenue, the night of Dec. 14, police said. After meeting and drinking with two men, she left with them in a white sport-utility vehicle during the early morning hours the next day, Sgt. Ken McCoy said. The men drove to the woman's apartment in Fairview and were drinking more alcohol before the woman passed out, said McCoy, head of the Anchorage Police Department's Special Victims Unit.

It's unclear if there was some sort of sexual encounter already planned, McCoy said.

"Obviously we don't know what their intent was, because we don't know who they are. But she allowed them to go to her home, and while they were socializing, she passed out and was sexually assaulted," McCoy said. "What her intent was, (it) was negated when she was incapacitated."

The woman woke up that afternoon and realized she had been raped, McCoy said. She also noticed that more than $500 in gifts for her child were missing from under their Christmas tree, the sergeant said.

The men had earlier told the woman they were Colombian, McCoy said. One is a heavy-set man, the other had a medium build, he said. The woman did not know what type of white SUV the men drove, but she told police they had a loud stereo, McCoy said.
