The Anchorage Christian and Barrow girls each picked up semifinal wins Friday at the ACS Lime Solar/Pepsi Invitational basketball tournament and will face each other in Saturday's championship game.
ACS cruised to a 52-39 win over Hutchison, and Barrow toppled Valdez 63-45. In consolation play, South blew out Bethel 71-34 and Glennallen slammed Skyview 46-20.
Sarah Geagel sparked the ACS girls with a game-high 14 points and Dallas Dickerson hit for 10. The Lions trailed 10-8 after one period, but rebounded with a 21-7 second quarter run to gain control.
Kiana Edwards led Hutchison with 10 points.
Barrow's win included 18 points apiece from Lynette Hepa and Dana Chrestman and a 17-point performance from Hilary Lowery. The Whalers started strong, leading by 20 at halftime.
Valdez' Alex Derifield buried four 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 24 points and Marian Wamsley added 10 for the Buccaneers.
Sabrina Ungaro's 26 points propelled the South girls to their big. Ungaro pumped in 16 by halftime to help the Wolverines lead 40-15 at the break.
Sierra Mains and Taylor Murray also turned in big games for South, scoring 17 and 15 points, respectively.
Rebecca Brink scored 10 points to lead Bethel.
The Glennallen girls dominated Skyview from the start, opening on a 9-0 first-quarter run and leading 22-2 at halftime. Ariana Dougall paced Glennallen with a game-high 16 points and Kelti Lorence totaled 15.
Samantha Reynolds led Skyview with seven points.
Delta 53, Houston 41
Trailing by two points after one quarter, the Delta Junction girls basketball team rallied for a 53-41 win over host Houston on Friday.
Jess Reiter led the Delta charge with 25 points, hitting five 3-pointers in the process. Savannah Wells led Houston with 16 points.
