Aces forward Clackson suspended from Saturday game

The Alaska Aces will be without forward Chris Clackson in tonight's series finale against Ontario after the ECHL suspended him, pending a review, following his major cross-checking penalty in the first period of Friday's 4-1 win over the Reign at Sullivan Arena.

Clackson, who was also fined an undisclosed amount, will be subject to league review next week, the ECHL said on its website.

Since being acquired in a trade with Gwinnett last month, Clackson in 12 games has put up 4-1--5 totals, a +5 rating and 66 penalty minutes.

Without him tonight, the Aces could be down to as few as eight true forwards. Look for defenseman Dustin Molle or defenseman Alain Goulet to log some time on the wing, perhaps even both of them. Both blueliners have been used on the wing by coach Rob Murray as the Aces find themselves short of forwards because they lost four forwards when the NHL labor crisis ended and two other forwards -- Garry Nunn and Tommy Mele -- remain out of the lineup with injuries.
