Wallace to NHL camp; bunch o' notes

Winger Tim Wallace of Anchorage, who has played 73 career NHL games, including 49 last season, has been summoned to NHL training camp by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Wallace in 37 games with AHL Charlotte put up 7-9--16 totals. He split his NHL time last season between the New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning, and made his NHL debut for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Also, former UAF defenseman Jordan Hendry, who won a Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks, has been summoned to NHL Anaheim for camp. He owns 129 games of NHL experience and in 29 games for AHL Norfolk this season had 2-2--4 totals.

Erstwhile Alaska Aces defenseman Kane Lafranchise played in his fifth AHL game today for Oklahoma City, a 3-0 loss to Texas in which he had an even rating, and erstwhile Aces blueliner Corey Syvret played his second game for AHL Toronto in a 4-2 loss at St. John's, which got two goals from former UAA winger Kevin Clark (4-1--5 in 27 games).

Also, former Aces blueliner Russ Sinkewich had an assist for AHL Portland in a 3-1 win at Worcester.

And with tons of AHL guys going to NHL camps, winger Justin Johnson of Anchorage today played in just his fifth game this season for AHL Manchester, which lost 2-1 at Providence. J.J. in the two previous seasons played 91 games for Manchester.

Also, hey, break up the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors. They won 4-2 at San Francisco today. That was notable because it marked the third straight regulation win for the Condors (11-25-3), who prior to this three-game winning streak had won just two games in regulation all season.
