Letter: Seawolf hockey — short-sticked?

I found out recently that the new $109 million dollar sports complex at UAA was not going to house a hockey arena. What a loss. The UAA hockey program is one of the only Division I sports at the school, and they play the top schools in the country. If not for a poor late call they would have beat the top team in the country Friday night; can the basketball team make any such claims?

The hockey program needs all the help it can get. A new facility would help with recruiting, provide a more intimate and raucous crowd and surely attract more students with its location close to student housing. What gives? Lets relegate monetary poor decision making to transportation (bridges, port, ferry), agriculture subsidies, and oh yeah, air fare to basketball games.
