Environmental – Officer advised the driver of a pickup, in the bed of which numerous ravens and eagles were snacking, that he needed to ensure that his garbage was disposed of in such a way that it did not create a nuisance.
Suspicious Person/Activity – Off-duty officer reported a speeding driver swerving in the roadway. Officers contacted the suspect driver, who displayed no signs of intoxication but admitted to both being extremely fatigued and to operating his vehicle in 2WD when 4WD would have been more appropriate for road conditions.
Found Property – A four-inch, black, Gothic sword.
Suspicious Person/Activity – Caller initially reported what appeared to be fraudulent activity on his credit card, then corrected himself as he read the bank statement more carefully and said there did not appear to be any problems.
Assistance Rendered – Officers responded to a request first for help with a passenger who had not paid his taxi fare, and then to a report that said passenger had fallen into the water while climbing onto his boat. The passenger was out of the water and in his galley by the time officers arrived, and declined any medical care. He then paid for the taxi ride.
Welfare Check – Wife, in Oregon, phoned police because her husband had not called today as expected. Officers found the husband and told him to call his wife.
Animal – Pet owner reported his dog was captured in a fox trap, which may have been illegally set. Under investigation.
Theft – Vessel captain reported a new crew member had absconded after the captain had purchased his flight to Unalaska and had bought him new fishing gear.
Assistance Rendered – Drunk reported that his brother stole his half-gallon of booze while he was being treated at the clinic. Officers found no half-gallon bottles, full or otherwise, in the house and advised the drunk to look for his liquor in the morning.
Drunk Disturbance – Airline staff requested assistance with an inebriated, would-be passenger who was upset about not being allowed on his flight. The inebriate eventually comprehended that he could get an alternative flight once he was sober.
