Anchorage police are investigating an apparent attack on a 65-year-old woman Tuesday at her Airport Heights home.
"Someone knocked on the door. She answered, and that's the last thing she remembers," said police spokeswoman Dani Myren.
The woman reported the encounter at about 6 p.m. at a residence on the 2700 block of East 17th Avenue, Myren said. The woman lost "a large amount of blood" in the attack and was treated a local hospital, Myren said.
The spokeswoman said the woman was not critically injured.
"It appeared that the contents of her purse was rifled through. That was the only thing that appeared tampered with," Myren said.
A small amount of cash and a credit card were missing from the purse, she said. Myren said the woman was unable to describe a suspect.
Myren said police have not established a connection between the apparent robbery and the arrest of Alejandro Aulman, 25, who police say shot a woman in the hand while robbing her of her purse at about 4:30 p.m. in the area of 10th Avenue and Latouche Street in Fairview. Aulman was arrested at about 6 p.m., Myren said.
It was unclear exactly when the Airport Heights attack occurred. "It was called in by the victim when she awoke," Myren said.
