Letter: How useful is wench on pickup?

I usually read the Daily News for its news content, but an article yesterday made me laugh out loud. In the article by Dan Schwartz regarding Kenai road-kill moose, the paragraph after Laurie Speakman gets the call to pick up a moose carcass, she "starts the pickup, equipped with a flashing siren, a wench and a boom."

I know Kenai has lovely ladies but seriously, a wench? The mental image was fantastic. So much for spell check and a lack of proof reading. I think a winch would have been more useful (although perhaps there are amazing wenches …).
