A repeat drunken driver whose license previously was revoked until 2094 was again charged with drunken driving on Saturday, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers said they began getting calls of concern about a vehicle traveling south on the Glenn Highway near Palmer late Saturday afternoon through the REDDI, or Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately, program. The vehicle was near Wolf Country USA when reports first came in, trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters said Sunday.
When troopers pulled the vehicle over near the Fred Meyer store in Palmer, John M. Slowikowski, a 41-year-old Sutton resident, was at the wheel, troopers said.
His license previously had been revoked until 2094, the trooper report said. Court records show a 2007 DUI conviction in Sitka and a 2008 felony conviction in Juneau. He had two or more prior convictions by 2008, the online court record said.
In the Sitka case, the court record said his license was revoked for 99 years, which would extend into the next century. It wasn't immediately clear why that indicated an even longer revocation of his license than what troopers reported. Peters said she confirmed that he had lost his license until 2094.
At the Saturday stop, he refused to provide a breath sample, troopers said. Slowikowski was charged with felony driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a chemical test, and driving with a revoked license, troopers said.
He was being held in the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. His initial bail amount was $20,000, troopers said.
