Letter: Tell congressional delegation to back cuts in gun violence

I strongly urge all Alaskans to contact their Alaska Congressional delegation to ask them to represent the children of Alaska in making sure that Congress fulfills its moral obligation to keep all the nation’s children safe by supporting the president’s efforts to reduce gun violence.

Most especially support:

• Universal background checks;

• A ban on military-style assault weapons and large capacity ammunition magazines; and

• Vigorous enforcement of gun trafficking laws.

In addition, tell them that it is vital that the CDC be able to pursue public health research into the causes and prevention of gun violence, and that the Bureau of ATFE be able to release the data it has already collected without hindrance. Urge our representatives in Congress to do everything in their power to ensure that these measures get passed, before they have the blood of massacred schoolchildren in Alaska on their hands to remind them of what they should have done.
