Anchorage police have charged a man with drunken driving and assault after a Tuesday morning wreck on Muldoon Road that injured two people.
Anthony Rue, 23, was driving northbound on Muldoon in a 2004 Ford pickup when it hit a raised median, went airborne and hit a Dodge pickup and a Dodge minivan in the oncoming lane, police said in a written statement.
Nicholas Delacruz-David was trapped in the minivan until firefighters extricated him. He suffered injuries to his back, neck and knee, police said. Joseph Krivenko, in the Dodge pickup, suffered cuts to his face and a possible neck injury. Both Delacruz-David, 63, and Krivenko, 54, were taken to a hospital, police said.
Police closed the southbound lanes of Muldoon for two hours to investigate.
Rue had a blood-alcohol content one-and-a-half times the legal limit to drive of 0.08, police said. He now faces a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated and two felony counts of assault.
Earlier Tuesday, the Glenn Highway's southbound lanes were closed for more than two hours after a collision between three vehicles, police said. There were no significant injuries reported, police said.
