boys hockey

Dimond 11, Chugiak 0

Dimond played a near-perfect hockey game Thursday — no penalties, no goals allowed, goals from eight players — to beat Chugiak 11-0 in a Cook Inlet Conference game at Ben Boeke.

Joel Tomuro scored a hat trick and Kenny Hausinger scored two goals to spark Dimond's potent offense, which produced four goals in the first period, three in the second and four in the third.

Jordan MacMillan stopped 14 shots for the shutout, while Chugiak goaltenders Matt Bennett and Jack Straub faced a combined 48 shots.

Service-East cruises

Kaitlan Miknich scored twice and Amy Brassard dished three assists Thursday to help the Service-East girls hockey team shut out Chugiak-Eagle River 4-0 in a Cook Inlet Conference game at Ben Boeke Arena.

Service-East's Morgan Hill opened scoring midway through the first period, with Miknich scoring once in the second and once in the third. Madisan Millar tacked on the fourth goal.

Service-East outshot Chugiak-Eagle River 35-7.

Chugiak 37, Homer 21

A balanced scoring attack carried Chugiak past Homer 37-21 Thursday in a nonconference game at Chugiak.

Brandy Bookout topped the Mustangs with eight points. Leading all scorers was Haley Oliver of Homer, who netted 10 points.

boys basketball

Chugiak 72, Homer 48

Skyler Fullmer racked up 29 points Thursday to lead the Chugiak boys basketball team to a 72-48 nonconference win over visiting Homer.

Payton Fullmer tossed in 17 points for Chugiak, which received scoring contributions from nine players.
