I see where Sen. Wielechowski has challenged Gov. Parnell to a debate about the governor’s proposed oil tax breaks. Good for the senator; at least he appears on the side of Alaskans’ best interest! Somebody should set the governor down and explain to him that he now lobbies for Alaskans and not for big oil. After all, we are paying his salary.
Giving huge tax breaks now to big oil on existing wells and production, those oil companies that already make billions in profit, without any commitment from them to increase development and production reeks of trying to buy your way into a future job with someone else’s money.
If the logic of his proposal were equivalent to the light emitted from a distant star, I don’t believe that even the Hubble telescope could see it.
