Six more Seawolves qualify for indoor track championships

UAA's track and field athletes recorded results in six events Saturday that provisionally qualify them for the NCAA Division II indoor championships, bringing their weekend total of qualifiers to 10 at the University of Washington Invitational in Seattle.

Micah Chelimo, a two-time Division II champion, placed 13th in the men's 3,000 meters with a time of 8 minutes, 14.15 seconds, which meets the provisional qualifying mark for that event. Chelimo has won national championships in the 5,000 and in cross country.

Posting a provisional qualifying mark in the women's 3,000 meters was Susan Tanui (20th in 9:38.71).

Others recording provisional marks Saturday were Alfred Kangago in the mile (17th place in 4:10.52), Joe Day in the 800 (4th place in 1:53.05), Ethan Hewitt in the 400 (4th place in 48.84) and Cody Thomas in the seven-event heptathlon (ninth with 4,648 points).
