ANCHORAGE STUDENT NAMED FINALIST IN
LIONS INTERNATIONAL PEACE POSTER CONTEST
(Anchorage, AK) – Molly Rardin, a 7th grade student at Steller Secondary School has been named a finalist in the 25th annual Lions Clubs International Peace Poster Contest. Molly was the winner of a local competition sponsored by the Mt. McKinley Lions Club.
Lions Clubs International is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Peace Poster contest, which was started to showcase the importance of world peace to young people everywhere. Rardin was among more than 400,000 students worldwide, ages 11-13, who submitted posters this year. Entries were judged for originality, artistic merit and portrayal of this year's contest theme, Imagine Peace.
Rardin's poster advanced through regional competitions, and will be judged in the international competition to be held in January in Chicago, IL. The grand prize winner will be announced at the "Lions Day at the United Nations" event on February 1st in New York City.
One international grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners will be selected. The grand prize includes a cash award of $5,000, and 23 merit award winners will each receive a certificate and a cash award of $500.
