GIRLS BASKETBALL

Dimond 54, Bartlett 50 (OT)

Dimond used four scorers in double figures Thursday night to offset 20-point performances from Bartlett's Nadine Fraker and Kiera Stokes and earn a 54-50 Cook Inlet Conference girls basketball victory in overtime.

Karenna Ligon led Dimond with 15 points, and Ione Fisher, Sierra Afoa and Kaylynn Haywood each added 10 points.

Dimond won the battle of the boards, 52-42, with Aminata Cole pulling down a game-high 18 rebounds and Afoa grabbing 14. Dimond also committed just 12 turnovers to Bartlett's 23.

Dimond's Tara Thompson dished five assists and copped seven steals. Bartlett's Tiemchieng Panoam grabbed 12 rebounds.

West 53, East 39

Chanel Bookert's game-high 15 points and 12 rebounds spearheaded West to a 53-39 victory over East in a CIC girls basketball game Thursday.

Alistie Aguilar added 13 points and seven steals for the Eagles.

Taria Page scored eight points for East.

Chugiak 67, Service 30

Haley Scott tossed in 17 points and Brandy Bookout added 14 Thursday to lead Chugiak past Service 67-30 in CIC action at Service.

The Cougars were led by Tatiyanna Venable's eight points and Hailey Chavez' seven points.

South 50, Eagle River 20

Sabrina Ungaro pumped in 15 points and grabbed eight steals Thursday to spark South's 50-20 homecourt romp over Eagle River.

Sierra Mains also scored 15 points, hitting a pair of 3-pointers and sinking five of six shots from the foul line.

Lauren Frost scored a team-high seven points for Eagle River, which trailed 35-13 at the half.

BOYS BASKETBALL

West 61, East 60

Deandre Wilson sank two free throws with nine seconds left Thursday to propel West past East 61-60 in a Cook Inlet Conference boys basketball game at East.

The Thunderbirds trailed by 11 with four minutes left but rallied behind the scoring of Xavier Johnson, who poured in 17 points.

A pair of players recorded double-doubles to help the Eagles hang on -- Theo Oghide (17 points, 14 rebounds) and Joe Riley (14 points, 10 rebounds).

Service 83, Chugiak 66

Adam Klie racked up a triple-double Thursday at Service to fuel the Cougars' 83-66 CIC victory over Chugiak

Klie accumulated 16 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Teammate Marques Robinson took team scoring honors with 24 points.

Chugiak had two scorers with 20 or more points -- Skyler Fullmer (24) and Payton Fullmer (20).

Dimond 55, Bartlett 52

Stanson Afoa piled up 13 points, 12 rebounds and four steals Thursday in Dimond's come-from-behind 55-52 CIC homecourt victory over Bartlett.

The Lynx outscored Bartlett 16-8 in the final quarter for the win.

Damon Cikanek added 13 points and Payton Lauwers 12 for Dimond. Bartlett landed 11 players in the scoring column, with Iziah Sherman-Newsome and Elijah Williams each netting nine points. Sherman-Newsome added a team-high seven rebounds.

South 63, Eagle River 50

Louis Page pumped in 37 points and added seven rebounds to spur South to a 63-50 CIC win over visiting Eagle River.

David Alston added 14 points for the Wolverines, who got a good defensive effort from Zach Lujan, who helped hold Eagle River's Shaquan Rhoades to seven points. Hunter Hill led Eagle River with 14 points.
