I do not know if Mr. Minshall went through the nightmare of the Algerian war. Thanks to my father's wisdom in not wanting his only son to be killed in a war in a place where France had no business being, he arranged for me to be drafted into the Navy. Thus I was spared the horrific butchery of that conflict, butchery which, sadly, was inflicted equally by both sides.
