Rollover limits Seward Highway to one lane north of McHugh Creek

Traffic on the Seward Highway was limited to one lane just north of Mile 112 and McHugh Creek for more than an hour after an SUV rolled over Tuesday afternoon, Anchorage police said.

It was not immediately clear how the Ford Explorer flipped, but it landed upside down with its driver trapped inside for at least 15 minutes, police spokeswoman Dani Myren said.

"The good news is it doesn't sound like any serious injuries," Myren said just after the wreck. "The occupant appears trapped, but that's just because of the position."

The Explorer landed about 15 feet from the Alaska Railroad, so train traffic was temporarily halted as a precaution, Myren said.
