Free African-American History Day event at museum

The Greater Friendship Baptist Church Choir will sing gospel music at a free African-American History Day event at the Anchorage Museum on Sunday. The day-long celebration is part of African-American History Month, observed each year in February to recognize the achievements of African-Americans in U.S. history.

In addition to the choir, the museum will also have hands-on cultural activities for families including African kente art projects and the Carver Invention Station, where children can learn about inventor and scientist George Washington Carver.

The special African-American History events will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. The choir will perform at 2:35 p.m. General admission to the museum will be free all day courtesy of Wells Fargo.
