Matsunami sparks UAA
Freshman M'rcy Matsunami won the vault and bagged her fourth all-around title of the season Sunday to lead UAA's gymnastics team to victory over host Centenary in Shreveport, La.
Matsunami won the vault (9.75) and finished second on the floor (9.725) with a result that was the best by a Seawolves performer in that discipline this season. She seized the all-around victor with 38.725 points.
Junior Emily Peterson finished second on the balance beam (9.75). In the vault, freshman Kayli Davis finished second (9.625), and Peterson and freshman Marie-Sophie Boggasch tied for third (9.575).
The Seawolves on Sunday entertain Eastern Michigan at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex at 2 p.m.

Fitzgerald blazes to win
Kate Fitzgerald turned in a dominating performance Sunday to win the Beach Lake Freestyle Flyer, a 15-kilometer cross-country ski race in Chugiak.
Fitzgerald was more than six minutes ahead of her closest pursuer. Her time of 41 minutes would have put her in seventh place in the 58-skier men's division.
Dylan Watts topped the men in 38:23.6, a little more than eight seconds ahead of second-place Erin Phillips.
