Battle of the droids
The 2013 Alaska High School Robotics Championship will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the University of Alaska Anchorage Wells Fargo Sports Complex. Thirty-six teams from 20 schools across Alaska will compete to build robots and put them through time trials for specific tasks -- herding balls, lifting weights, stacking material and maneuvering through the test court. The public is welcome to attend and marvel in person or watch the action streaming live at fllalaska.com.
Spring forward
The annual spring break blowout at H2Oasis is going down Friday. This year it's called Snapbacks & Tattoos, featuring a contest for best tattoo. Beer-raising fundraiser
The Alaska Aviation Museum is raising funds to fly its 1931 Fairchild Pilgrim this summer, and to that end the museum is hosting a beer tasting of eight different brews from Alaska breweries.
