The Alaska State Improv Festival takes place next month in Juneau, and Anchorage-based improv comedy troupe Scared Scriptless is trying to raise funds to get there. The Fly Fishing Film Tour hits Bear Tooth 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The screening includes 10 short films, shot from Thailand to Bolivia to Michigan. Tickets are $14, and the Bear Tooth website says this has sold out the past two years. Make reservations at beartooththeatre.net.

St. Patrick's Day lands on a Sunday this year, but the party runs all weekend long. Of course, Irish pub McGinley's has a full slate: Carhartt Brothers, 8:30 p.m. Friday; Wild Cat Trio, 8:30 p.m. Saturday; and an all-day Sunday block party with Crooked Road and The Whiskey Jacks begins 10 a.m. Koot's has St. Patty's themed events happening Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well. The Derry Aires, Irish Dance Academy and Northern Lights Celtic Dancers celebrate St. Patty's eve 7 p.m. Saturday at Snow Goose. St. Patrick's Parish on Muldoon Road hosts a dinner and dance, 6:30 p.m. Friday, and the Irish Dance Academy will also be at the Primrose Retirement Community celebration Friday, 6-8 p.m.
