Register for 35th annual Alaska Heart Run by April 20; bib pick up begins that day

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The largest 5K in Alaska – the Alaska Heart Run –  is celebrating its 35th anniversary and the American Heart Association reminds runners and walkers to register for this fun event by Saturday, April 20, 2013. Bib pick-up will also begin on April 20.

The Heart Run, organized by the American Heart Association and sponsored by the Alaska Heart Institute, will be held Saturday, April 27 at the University of Alaska Anchorage. The race welcomes participants of all abilities for 5K and 3K competitive and non-competitive runs.

“We feel great about supporting the Heart Run,” said Dr. Paul Peterson, cardiologist with the Alaska Heart Institute. “The Heart Run encourages people to get out and exercise, raises awareness of heart disease, and raises money for the American Heart Association. It is a great event.”

Participants should register by Saturday, April 20 to avoid the $10 late registration fee, and registration for the timed run will close that day at midnight.  Entries for the timed race must be submitted online, in-person, or postmarked by midnight on April 20. Untimed entry forms will be accepted online until Thursday, April 25 and in person at registration on April 26.  Advance registration is preferred. Registration fees start at $5 for children and $20 for adults, and proceeds benefit the American Heart Association and are tax deductible.

Bib pick-ups and in-person registration will be available at the King Career Center, 2650 E. Northern Lights Blvd., Anchorage on the following dates:
