Seidel snipes in Kenai; Jacques Lamoureux makes an All-Decade Team

Doyle Woody,

Other than getting stopped on a shootout bid tonight, Kenai River Brown Bears forward Matt Seidel had it going on in a serious way -- dude scored four goals on his first four shots in a 5-4 North American Hockey League shootout win over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in Soldotna.

The Brown Bears won the shootout, 3-2, on goals from Alec Butcher, Zac Lazzaro and Alex Jackstadt.

Seidel scored three straight goals in the second period to give Kenai a 4-2 lead, but the Ice Dogs scored in the final minute of the period and used defenseman Doug Rose's second goal of the game, midway through the third on the power play, to force OT.

Kenai River's Chris Nuth and Dylan Meier each furnished three assists.

The Ice Dogs are tied for first place in the West Division with 80 points, matching Wenatchee, a 5-1 winner over Fresno. Both Fairbanks and Wenatchee have three games left -- Kenai River entertains Fairbanks again Saturday.

On the college front, cool news out of the Atlantic Hockey conference, which has revealed its 10th anniversary teams. On the first team is former Alaska Aces forward Jacques Lamoureux, who is stationed in the Air Force here and has helped out the club in the past when it was short players. Easy to understand why Jacques merited first team -- in 116 games during three seasons with Air Force, he racked 79-60--139 totals.
