UAA recruit Stenerson bags series-clinching hat trick in BCHL

Doyle Woody,

Some good news on the UAA recruiting front tonight -- incoming freshman Michael Stenerson, to be here in the fall, delivered the Surrey Eagles a hat trick tonight to sweep the BCHL's Coastal Conference title with a 5-2 win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs that locked up the series in four games.

Surrey awaits the winner of the Interior Conference Finals -- the Penticton Vees lead the West Kelowna Warriors 3-1 in a best-of-7 -- in the Fred Page Finals for league supremacy.

Stenerson owns 6-8--14 totals in 11 games to rank second on the circuit in playoff points.

Penticton includes defenseman Bryan Sinz of Anchorage (0-3--3 in 8 games), who is headed to Clarkson in the fall, and also former UAA winger Sam Mellor (4-5--9 in 8 games), who is ticketed for Western Michigan in the fall.

West Kelowna includes UAF recruits Marcus Basara (4-6--10 in 9 games) and Shawn Hochhauser (0-6--6 in 9 games).
