Anchorage man dies after weekend motorcycle wreck

An Anchorage man has died after his motorcycle collided head-on with a car late Sunday between Palmer and Wasilla, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Charles W. Henson, 53, died at an Anchorage hospital Tuesday, troopers said in a written statement posted online.

Henson lost control of the motorcycle just before 9 p.m. Sunday while driving around a curve on Trunk Road north of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway, troopers said. The motorcycle hit an oncoming Suzuki sedan as the car was coming to a stop, and Henson, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered severe injuries to his head, troopers said.

An air ambulance flew Henson to Anchorage, where he was treated at Providence Alaska Medical Center and initially listed in critical condition. Hospital staff pronounced him dead Tuesday, troopers said.
