Fairbanks lawmaker apologizes on House floor for behavior

JUNEAU -- A Fairbanks lawmaker apologized Wednesday on the House Floor for actions that drew sharp rebuke from his colleagues.

A video of Monday night's floor session shows Democratic Rep. Scott Kawasaki making faces toward the camera at one point during Speaker Mike Chenault's floor speech on an in-state natural gas pipeline bill.

Earlier Tuesday, he also drew a rebuke from fellow House members when he asked to be excused from the call of the House from April 15 until the start of the next session in January, code for not wanting to have a special session.

Kawasaki publicly apologized during an impromptu press conference Tuesday, but he used Wednesday's floor session to issue another apology.
