First fallout since Shyiak's departure: UAA recruit switches to Michigan Tech

The first fallout since Dave Shyiak's firing as UAA head coach has happened with decorated recruit Brent Baltus' decision to instead play next fall at Michigan Tech.

Baltus had committed to UAA under Shyiak's watch, but changed his commitment to the Huskies after Shyiak's departure, according to the British Columbia Hockey League website.

Baltus, who racked 24-27--51 totals in 47 games for the Trail Smoke Eaters, was named the Interior Conference Most Valuable Player in a vote of league coaches.

Best of luck to Baltus. Always tough for a school to lose a recruit, but The Blog can't blame the kid. He made his commitment to Shyiak and crew, and with Shyiak no longer on the job, the kid deserves the right to reconsider his decision.
