Aces: Morning skate (plus, notes)

Doyle Woody,

Alaska Aces coach Rob Murray this morning said he'll stick with the same lineup that eliminated San Francisco last week when he fills out his lineup card at Sullivan Arena for tonight's Game 1 of the ECHL Western Conference semifinal series against the visiting Stockton Thunder.

In case you don't have that written down and filed away in your memory, here's the lineup:

Meanwhile, on the Stockton side, coach Matt Thomas this morning said top defenseman Ryan Constant, who suffered a broken wrist in a practice accident Thursday afternoon at Sullivan Arena -- Constant during a non-contact drill stumbled through a bench door that was not closed properly -- has undergone surgery.

That's a difficult blow for the Thunder to absorb. Imagine the Aces losing, say, Lafranchise or Ward, and you have some idea how tough a loss that is for Stockton.

Thomas said he is signing former UAA defenseman Scott Warner of Anchorage -- Warner just wrapped his college career -- to an amateur tryout agreement under emergency conditions and is 95 percent certain Warner will make his pro debut tonight.

We'll toss in one additional, non-Aces pro note: Former UAF winger Kyle Greentree, who racked 24-30--54 totals in 51 games for Medvescak Zagreb in the Austrian league this season, has, according to, signed to play next season with Basel in the Swiss league. Greentree this season tied for seventh in the Austrian league in scoring -- one of the guys he tied with was former Aces center Brock McBride and the guy directly above Greentree and McBride in the scoring race at No. 6 was former Aces forward John Lammers.
