Regarding Rep. Les Gara's statement published in the Daily News on April 19:
He was quoted as saying: "The Permanent Fund dividend is intended for people who live in Alaska, have to pay the high costs of fuel, the high cost of heating, just the high costs we have here."
The intent of the Legislature (during our beloved Gov. Jay Hammond's term) was to share the oil wealth with all Alaska residents regardless of need.
