Anything goes: What's up, dog lovers?

Use this space to discuss anything you'd like -- treat it as a bulletin board for all things dog.

I'll go first:

With multiple dogs, it's always something. Even as Eddie is rehabbing after surgery to repair his CCL, I noticed during a grooming last week that the tip of Jillie's ear was matted with blood and hard. When I cleaned it off, there was what appeared to be a straight-line cut across her ear diagonally, part of it going clean through to the other side and most of it almost through to the other side.

I was baffled because I comb her regularly and hadn't noticed it before, but it was evidently old, at least since a previous bathing. Not once had she whimpered about it and not once did I notice any blood. I understand ear cuts are known to bleed profusely.

I took her to the vet, and they said the tip of the ear was already dying above the cut. She was going to lose the top part of it. They said I could either let it fall off on its own or have it surgically removed. Since she was due for dental, I decided to do both at the same time.

So now I have a 1 1/2-eared Yorkie and no idea how it happened.

What's up with your pack?
