Salmonstock headliners include Trampled by Turtles

The fleet-fingered, rock 'n' bluegrass band Trampled by Turtles is among the first set of headliners announced for this year's Salmonstock festival in Ninilchik. The lineup also includes Minnesota jam band The Big Wu, Colorado bluegrass group Head for the Hills, flat-picker Larry Keel and his band Natural Bridge, Moonalice (featuring former members of Jefferson Starship and the Flying Other Brothers) and singer-songwriter Si Kahn.

The annual three-day festival began three years ago and is organized by the Renewable Resources Foundation to promote the protection of wild salmon habitat in Alaska and opposes the proposed Pebble Mine near Bristol Bay.

Salmonstock takes place August 2-4 at the Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds in Ninilchik. Tickets are available at salmonstock.org, with an early-bird discount available through May 31 for three-day and two-day passes ($99 and $85). The prices are $115 and $95 from June 1 through Aug. 1. Three-day passes will be $135 at the gate. Single-day passes for Friday and Sunday are $50; Saturday is $60.
