A failed drug deal ended in a shooting Wednesday night in an Eagle River parking lot, the apparent victim told Anchorage police.
The trouble began near the Homestead Lounge when a man police identified as the 27-year-old victim in the shooting tried to buy drugs from another man, the victim said. The dealer took the man's money but refused to hand over the drugs, police said.
When the victim tried to get his money back, the dealer fired on him, grazing the top of his head in the parking lot of the nearby Alaska Club on Business Boulevard, according to a police statement. The injury was not life-threatening, police said.
The gunshots were reported to police at about 8:30 p.m., said spokeswoman Anita Shell.
Both men fled the scene of the shooting in separate vehicles, police said. Police have not publicly named the gunshot victim, who called police about two hours after the shooting, according to the department.
Police are asking for help in finding the suspected shooter, who is described as about 5-foot-8 and weighing roughly 275 pounds.
