Ukpeagvik Inupiat Corp. welcomes new company

UKPEAGVIK INUPIAT CORPORATION'S PROFESSIONAL SERVICES DIVISION WELCOMES UIC ARCTIC RESPONSE SERVICES

Richard Reich, General Manager of UMIAQ a subsidiary of UIC Professional Services, has announced the formation of a new company – UIC Arctic Response Services, LLC – to pursue opportunities in oil spill prevention, training, preparedness and response services along the Arctic coastlines including, onshore, near-shore, and offshore areas of the North Slope Borough, Chukchi, and Beaufort Seas of Alaska.

UMIAQ, the majority owner, and OCS Ventures, LLC have teamed to create UIC Arctic Response Services, LLC (UIC ARS). Together, the two organizations have greater reach and access to the requisite expertise, experience, and resources that will effectively position the new Company for future work.

The intent and objective of UIC ARS is to ensure a fully integrated, proactive, and programmatic approach to work, which is customer focused, flexible, and designed to consistently deliver in a way that achieves the highest possible level of stakeholder confidence. Instilling stakeholder confidence is only achieved with a comprehensive oil spill prevention and response program that effectively meets the needs of those living within the region, federal and state regulators, as well as those of the exploration and production companies. UIC ARS has the ability to provide that level of stakeholder confidence.

Additionally, UIC ARS brings training and employment opportunities to UIC Shareholders, their descendants and spouses, and other local residents throughout the region.

Peter Andersen, Jr. is the General Manager of UIC ARS. Peter spent eight years working at all levels in Alyeska Pipeline SERVS Division, eventually advancing into the organization's senior leadership position. SERVS is widely considered to be one of the largest dedicated oil spill prevention and response organizations in the world. Since his departure from SERVS three years ago, he has been the President of an Alaskan Native Corporation that managed and was the majority owner of SERVS' primary response action contractor, TCC, LLC. TCC, LLC has been providing oil spill prevention and response services to Alyeska for over 20 years.

Dale Tolleson is the Operations Manager for UIC ARS. Dale was Vice President of the same Alaskan Native Corporation as Peter and was responsible for the overall performance of company contracts and business development. Those entities and contracts included TCC, LLC (as mentioned above), a 2010 Macondo response contract, former Alyeska TAPS Baseline Maintenance contractor, as well as other oil services related efforts. Dale has more than 30 years of leadership and management experience in the U.S. Air Force and private sector.
