Letter: It’s time for civil, civic discourse

With every new terrorist attack (successful or not) it’s becoming clear our problem is home grown. As for the latest successful attack we could once again cower into reactionism by introducing new regulations like limiting sales of fireworks and toy car radio transmitters, much like removing shoes at airports. Dianne Feinstein could even introduce legislation limiting the capacity of pressure cookers! Or we could become proactive by at least labeling it for what it is — Islamic Jihadist terrorism. This begins with our president’s input as well as our governor and mayor.

Like Boston we have our own famous race which ceremonially begins in the shadow of the Westward. And like Boston our race is a “soft” target where the barking dogs can almost be heard at our international airport. It’s time for civic and civil discourse.
