April 26, 2013

Anchorage, Alaska - Scott Centers, COO of Coastal Television is proud to announce the inclusion of award-winning Jeanie Greene in their news line up and the addition of "Heartbeat Alaska" as regular programming twice a week.

Centers says: "Jeanie Greene, a veteran Inupiat journalist, is known throughout Alaska, Canada and the Lower 48 as a pioneer in indigenous television programming. With 23 years of experience, she has accumulated one of the world's largest libraries of Bush life in Alaska.

"Heartbeat Alaska" has been aired in 23 states and internationally in Taiwan, Canada and nationally on the Outdoor Channel, documenting traditional life in the midst of the changing world as it made its way to the villages. I am proud of Jeanie and I am exceptionally proud (that our) station (is where) she now calls home."

Greene commented: "I've loved making this program and will continue to own and create it but I am super excited about working with Lori Tipton and Scott Centers to bring Native news to Alaska once again," said Jeanie.

"The issues are heating up and there needs to be a voice to share those issues in mainstream media. Scott has made this opportunity possible and I can see this partnership blossoming to create a rural voice for Alaska."

The rural Alaska news package will air during the FOX 4 KTBY News at 9 p.m. and again during The ABC Alaska 10 p.m. newscast, according to Lori Tipton, news director. Heartbeat Alaska began airing statewide on ABC Alaska at 5 p.m. April 20th and 21st. "Your Native Link with Jeanie Greene" began airing the week of April 29th.
