Sports Radio Expands in Anchorage on AM and FM

ANCHORAGE – One of Anchorage's earliest radio stations, KHAR 590 AM has announced that it will debut CBS Sports Radio on May 1, 2013. This 24 hour, spoken word format features top national hosts including "sports smack-talk juggernaut" Jim Rome, one of the genre's most listened to hosts. All programs will air live allowing local Alaska callers to dial-in and be heard nationwide.

Sports Radio 590 AM is simulcast in Anchorage on 96.7 FM and will continue to feature local sporting events such as high school football, The World Championship Sled Dog Races and Glacier Pilots baseball.

Other standout personalities featured on Sport Radio 590 will include: Doug Gottlieb, Scott Ferrall, Tiki Barber, Brandon Tierney, Dana Jacobsen, John Feinstein, Chris Moore, Brian Jones, and Damon Amendolara.

Anchorage Media Group operates 7 stations in Southcentral Alaska including KAYO, KWHL, KMXS, KEAG, KBRJ, KFQD and KHAR. The debut of Sports Radio 590 marks the first format change in over 17 years for Anchorage Media Group.

Sports Radio is the fastest growing format in the United States having doubled its measured audience over the past five years. It focuses on Male listeners aged 18-54 and offers advertisers the benefit of a foreground, topical and actively listened to radio format.
