Another May snowfall sticks in Anchorage, rain to follow

Anchorage woke up to another round of spring snowfall Saturday, with the National Weather Service forecasting rain by afternoon. More snow may follow in the early evening.

"A band of light to moderate snow has developed this morning from Kachemak Bay north to the Mat-Su Valley and will continue through early this afternoon," the Weather Service said in a special advisory urging drivers to be cautious.

Up to 3 inches of snow was expected to accumulate on the Hillside.

Tonight's forecast calls for "rain and snow likely in the early evening, mainly along the Hillside and north and east Anchorage," the Weather Service says. There is a chance of snow after midnight with little to no accumulation.
