West 1, South 1
After a scoreless first half, West and South battled to a 1-1 draw Tuesday in a Cook Inlet Conference boys soccer match at South High.
Eyob Imlach put South on the board first, scoring from about 15 yards out midway through the second half. West bounced back to tie it on a goal from Carson Klever, who emerged from a scrum to score from close range.
West's Abdou Sallah had a chance to give the Eagles a late lead, but failed to convert a penalty kick against South goalie Griffin Toomey.
GIRLS SOCCER
South 1, West 0
A last-minute goal from Morgan Hooe lifted the South girls soccer team to a 1-0 Cook Inlet Conference win over West on Tuesday in the host Wolverines' first outdoor match of the season.
Hooe's game-winner came on a direct kick from just outside the penalty area in the 79th minute.
Dimond 3, East 0
The Dimond girls remained undefeated Tuesday, earning a 3-0 win over visiting East in a CIC girls soccer match.
Madison Richards opened scoring for the Lynx, who improved to 10-0-0. Darby Judd assisted on the first goal, with Aaliyah Lewis tacking on two more scores. Katelyn Sweeney recorded the shutout in goal.

West 8, South 1
West's Pauline Tufi provided defense and offense Tuesday in helping the Eagles roll over South 8-1 in a Cook Inlet Conference softball game at Albrecht Fields.
Tufi earned a complete-game win, striking out seven and giving up two hits in five innings. She was also deadly at the plate, driving in two runs in a 2-for-2 effort. West leadoff hitter Jamie Bingham scored three runs, reaching base in all three of her at-bats with a hit and two walks.
Rachel Fowkes and Paige Mohi each went 1 for 2 for South.
West, which improved to 5-0 in CIC play, also won a game Monday. The Eagles downed Service 12-2 at Albrecht Fields behind a game from Bingham, who ripped two doubles and went 3 for 3. Tufi and Temple Vice each drove in runs and Lauren Syrup was the winning pitcher.
Service's Keaira Caldarera and Kenzie Duwe each notched a hit.
East 4, Dimond 1
East's Sydney Smith pitched a complete game and struck out seven in a 4-1 CIC softball victory over Dimond on Tuesday at Wendler Middle School.
East (5-0 CIC) got two doubles apiece from Alexis Joubert and Lilly Blair.
Madison Richards, who pitched a complete game for the Lynx (2-1), went 3 for 3 and scored Dimond's only run.
Bartlett 9, Service 1
Led by a big game from Heather Breslin, the Bartlett softball team invoked the mercy rule and closed out Service 9-1 in five innings Tuesday in a CIC match up at Wendler Middle School.
Breslin stuck out nine in a complete-game victory and drove in two runs on two hits.
Service scored its only run on a Kelsey Lindahl triple in the fifth inning.

Dimond 3, Service 1
Dimond put up three runs in the bottom of the first inning Tuesday and hung on for a 3-1 win over Service in a Cook Inlet Conference baseball game at Mulcahy Stadium.
Dimond's Jordan Clevenger struck out seven, surrendering six hits and walking two in seven innings. Grant Remmer and Mason Anderson each recorded a hit and drove in a run for the Lynx, with Brandon Sakumoto walking twice and scoring.
Matt Yandell scored Service's only run and also struck out seven and allowed four hits in six innings of relief work. Jake Ridley belted a pair of hits and Ryan Caron cracked a double for the Cougars, who put runners at first and third in the top of the seventh before ending the game on a strikeout.
Dimond and Service are both 1-1 in CIC play.
Eagle River 8, Bartlett 2
A six-run fifth inning propelled Eagle River to an 8-2 win over Bartlett in a CIC baseball game at Mulcahy Stadium on Monday night.
Eagle River's Colby LeBlanc and R.J. Dirscherl each notched RBI doubles and Kyle Frost added two hits. Eagle River relievers Cameron Fabacher, David Fuller and Wesley Bennice combined to hold Bartlett scoreless over the last five innings.
Bartlett starter Ryan Dudley pitched four strong innings, before the Wolves got to him in the fifth. Zach Schmidt drove in both Bartlett runs.
Karate
Bradford wins two
Vassar Bradford picked up black-belt victories in the Kata forms division and Kumite fighting division at last weekend's Top of the World Karate Championships at Spenard Recreation Center.
Adele Sanders claimed a win in a women's black-belt Kata division.
Bradford and Sanders each represented Tanaka's Martial Arts Academy, which won the overall team competition.
