Girls soccer

Service 4, Chugiak 1

Powered by a hat trick from Haleigh Van Allen, the Service girls were victorious in their first home match of the Cook Inlet Conference soccer season, taking down Chugiak 4-1 Wednesday.

Van Allen scored in the 66th, 69th and 75th minutes and assisted Zoe Bailey on a goal in the 79th minute as the Cougars overcame a goal from Chugiak in the 61st minute.

Service improved to 7-2-2 in CIC play and Chugiak fell to 6-2-3.

Softball

East 11, Dimond 1

Taria Page and Alexis Joubert each smacked home runs Wednesday, propelling East to an 11-1 CIC softball win over Dimond at Albrecht Fields.

Page also ripped a double in her 2-for-2 effort that included four runs and four runs driven in. Sydney Smith pitched a complete five-inning game for the Thunderbirds, who improved to 6-0 in CIC play.

Whitney Jackson went 1 for 2 and scored the lone run for Dimond, which fell to 2-2.

West 9, South 5

West's Pauline Tufi drove in four runs Wednesday, and the Eagles rolled to a 9-5 win over South in a CIC softball game.

Tufi went 4 for 4 with two doubles and also pitched a complete game. Jamie Bingham added a double and scored three runs.

South's Dakota Underwood drove in two runs in a 1-for-2 effort.

track and field

CIC meet moved

This weekend's Cook Inlet Conference track and field championship was moved to Dimond High due to sloppy field conditions at Bartlett High.

Action begins Thursday at 3:30 p.m., continues Friday at 3:30 p.m., with the final events starting Saturday at 9 a.m.

baseball

Service 11, Chugiak 1

Jake Ridley's sixth-inning grand slam solidified an 11-1 Cook Inlet Conference baseball win for Service on Wednesday in a game against Chugiak at Mulcahy Stadium.

Ridley finished with two hits and five RBI, and Matt Ilalio went 3 for 3 for the Cougars and scored three times from the leadoff spot.

Chugiak's Chase Wilson notched an RBI-single in the fifth inning.

Service and Chugiak are both 2-1 in CIC play.

Chugiak 8, South 7

Clutch relief pitching from Deven Ferriss helped Chugiak squeak out an 8-7 win over South on Tuesday in a CIC baseball game at Mulcahy Stadium.

Ferriss entered the game with two outs in the bottom of the fifth and the bases full of Wolverines. He induced a popup to preserve Chugiak's 8-7 lead, then continued to shut down South in the final two innings of the seven-inning game.

Chugiak's Chase Wilson went 4 for 5 with an RBI and Zachary Brueggemann went 3 for 4 with an RBI.
