Local sports in brief: AGC opens front nine; Turnagain Arm Trail Run

The Anchorage Golf Course opened its front nine for play on temporary greens Tuesday and plans to open the back nine on temporary greens Friday.

"It looks pretty good, just wet," AGC general manager Rich Sayers said.

Greens fees are $15 to play nine holes and $24 to play 18. Golfers wishing to play 18 before Friday can play the front nine twice. Carts can be used but must be kept on the cart path.

The driving range, which now has golf-ball dispensers at each end, is also open for practice on grass. The rest of the clubhouse is in full service, including the snack bar and O'Malley's on the Green.

Eagleglen's driving range is open as well, and the course is expected to open some time next week. Moose Run is still closed, with hopes of opening the driving range next week.
