KPB Architects to play role in building Anchorage Cabela's store

kpb architects plays role in building outdoor
enthusiasts’ paradise Cabela’s in Anchorage

Anchorage, Alaska – Anchorage-based KPB Architects is working with local engineers and contractors to assist in the design and construction of a large retail center at the corner of C Street and 104th Avenue. The structure will be the long-awaited first Alaska location for national retailer Cabela’s, set to open spring 2014.
Having helped develop the design of the building to fit Cabela’s traditional 100,000-square-foot model, kpb has also used its experience in Alaska to incorporate architectural measures necessary for the building to withstand the regional climate and seismic conditions, as well as municipal requirements.
“At kpb, we are enjoying being part of this project from both a professional and personal perspective,” said KPB Architects Principal Mike Prozeralik. “It is always an exciting opportunity to share in a company’s first foray into this one-of-a-kind market. And, just like the rest of Alaska, as outdoorsmen and sportsmen, we are all looking forward to being customers when the store opens next year.”
In addition to KPB Architects, other Anchorage firms are contributing to the Cabela’s project, including contractor PCL Construction Services, Inc., DOWL-HKM civil engineering, Reid Middleton structural engineering and RSA electrical and mechanical engineering.
