Woman charged with DUI and letting her son, 13, drive on Parks Highway

A Tok woman was arrested after letting her 13-year-old son take over driving for her on the Parks Highway because she was drunk, Alaska State Troopers said in an online report Monday.

Alissa L. Bustillo, 44, was a passenger in a 2002 Chevy Avalanche that troopers pulled over near mile 265 of the Parks Highway. The pickup had been reported for driving dangerously, troopers said.

"Investigation revealed that Bustillo had been operating the vehicle prior to being stopped by AST," troopers said in a summary posted online. "Bustillo was also found to be under the influence and impaired by alcohol and had allowed her, un-licensed, 13 year old son to take over driving for her."

Bustillo was arrested for DUI, allowing an unauthorized person to drive and endangering the welfare of a child. She was taken to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.
