Glenn Highway reopens after nine-car accident

A nine-car accident clogged traffic on the Glenn Highway in Chugiak for nearly two hours Tuesday morning, according to Anchorage police.

The crash was first reported at 6:21 a.m., when it briefly closed the highway between North Birchwood Loop Road and South Peters Creek, said Anchorage police spokeswoman Anita Shell. Police opened one lane at 6:31 a.m.

Police had completely opened the highway by 8:16 a.m., she said.

Shell said she did not yet know the cause of the accident and was unaware of any injuries in the crash.
