Alaska airfare market heats up: $87 one-way from Anchorage to Seattle

Face it, travelers. The midnight sun is making everybody in Alaska a little giddy.For example, JetBlue Airways announced a one-way Anchorage-Seattle fare of $87 June 12-30 for the airline's daily red-eye flight. Northbound fares, from Seattle to Anchorage, are a little more expensive: $119. Still, at $206 for a roundtrip fare, JetBlue's got a great deal.

Another jetBlue value for Alaska travelers: Nonstop flights from Anchorage to Long Beach, Calif. Flights between June 12-26 are $137, one way. Again, it costs a little more -- $149 for flights between June 19-26 -- to return to Alaska from from Long Beach. Still, the total is just $286 roundtrip. Crazy!

Icelandair still is running a special $100 discount off "over the top" airfares from Anchorage to Reykjavik. Use the promotional code "Anchorage100" until June 20 at Icelandair.com Traveling June 3-16, the roundtrip airfare (discount applied) comes out to $758 roundtrip.

Frontier Airlines offers some great fares from Anchorage to Denver. Using the discount code "LOWER48" you can trim an additional 10 percent off. Plug in the discount code on FlyFrontier.com for a $360 roundtrip, nonstop fare between June 5-19.

This is just the beginning, Alaskans. Expect these types of air travel deals all summer long.

Of course, Alaska Airlines, Delta, United, Virgin America and others will chime in with deals of their own. And I, for one, can't wait!
