Indie-folk band Alameda to play Tap Root

Portland, Ore., has a knack for churning out indie-folk and Americana-inspired bands, and Anchorage has a knack for drawing some of those groups northward. In recent years, Monolith Agency has booked Alaska tours for bands like Truckstop Darlin', Quiet Life and the Lewi Longmire Band. Next up is Alameda, who plays two nights in Tap Root next month.

Employing strings and woodwinds, Alameda has more of a baroque and chamber orchestra bent than the bands listed above. The band recently released a new 7-inch, and you can download the A-side over at the Portland Mercury's website. I'm assuming you'll also be able to pick up copies 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, June 20 and 21. The group is playing those nights at Tap Root, and $5 will get you in the door.
