Recently divorced Soldotna couple dead in murder-suicide, troopers say

A recently divorced Soldotna couple was found dead Tuesday as a result of an apparent murder-suicide in the Kenai Peninsula city's Skyline neighborhood, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Someone in the area heard gunshots about 5 p.m. and called troopers, who discovered Earl D. Moore, 69, and Lynda Moore, 66, dead outside a home, a troopers spokeswoman said.

The Moores divorced in April, according to court records.

"The assault appeared to have initiated in the driveway of the residence, with both individuals found deceased near the property line of the residence and the roadway," a written statement from troopers says. "So far the investigation is showing that this is a domestic incident, due to the evidence collected on scene. However, nothing is being ruled out just yet pending the results of an autopsy."

For now, troopers are not saying which of the Moores killed the other or what type of weapon was used, troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said.

Anyone with further information on the incident is asked to call troopers in Soldotna at 262-4453.
