Homer man killed when motorcycle slides into truck's path

A 34-year-old Homer man died over the weekend when he lost control of the motorcycle he was driving and slid into the path of a pickup truck, Alaska State Troopers said.

The wreck occurred about 2 p.m. Sunday near Mile 19 of East End Road outside Homer, troopers said in a report posted online.

Travis Coffey was riding outbound on East End Road with a friend, who was on a separate motorcycle, "when he lost control of the motorcycle, sliding into the oncoming lane," troopers reported. He slid into the path of a pickup driven by Domian Kuzmin, 22, of Delta Junction, troopers said.

Coffey died at the scene, troopers said. They said he didn't appear to be impaired and was wearing a helmet.
