Plane flips on Willow Lake, no one hurt

A floatplane flipped upside down in Willow Lake Monday afternoon but the details of what happened aren't yet clear, according to the Alaska State Troopers. No injuries were reported.

Troopers got a call at 3:17 p.m. that a plane was belly-up in the lake, said AST spokeswoman Megan Peters.

"We don't know if it happened on landing or takeoff," she said.

Two boaters assisted the pilot, who was sitting on the plane when troopers arrived, Peters said.

Information on the model of the plane and pilot's identity isn't yet known, said Clint Johnson of the National Transportation Safety Board, the agency that investigates aviation accidents in Alaska.
